Hello hello! I'm back again!
I know I was supposed to post this yesterday etc, but I once again took very long to produce the video!

Because of the silly concept I had (borrowed from my friend's PW group's video idea), I ended up spending a good 7 hours to make this video! :( But I split it over 2 days, which is why this is only here now!

Anyway, if your friends are wondering what is Tchoukball & aren't convinced that they should just come to the camp and find out, WELL, you can show them this video, because it's got all the information they need to know on how to play Tchoukball :D

And yes, I know my drawings are weird. Just bear with it kay :)

IN CASE, you couldn't catch it, here's all the detailz! :D

To play:
1. Set-up 2 rebound frames
2. Set-up a semi-circle shape around the frame
(It's called the Forbidden/'D' zone)
3. Separate players into 2 teams

RULES
1. No player is allowed to stand in the 'D' zone with the ball
2. Each player may take a max. of 3 steps
3. Each team can make a max. of 3 passes before shooting
4. Teams can shoot at both sides :)
5. Only 3 consecutive shots at a frame from both teams is allowed

What causes a FOUL
(Foul = Other team takes the ball)
1.Interfering with other teams' passes or movement
2. Making 4 passes before shooting a point
3. Dropping the ball
4. Stepping out of bounds with the ball

How to score a point
Throw the ball onto the frame & ensure that it lands beyond the 'D' zone

How to lose a point
1. Ball rebounds and
- Lands in the 'D' zone
- Lands beyond playing area
- Touches the scorer
2. Ball misses the rebound surface completely

Camp Mirage!!!

Hey Kias,

This has been the first time in years since I've posted anything on the Faith Factor blog. HENCE, it must be important. Of course, it's the about the upcoming youth camp! It'll be soo fun (as our previous camps have also been..we've a history record as evidence) that even someone like me who used to dislike going for camps have been CONVERTED to a youth camp enthusia-st. Yes, even with the past trauma of doing bolly-wood doesn't prevent me from attending another one. And of course, I've been changed each camp to learn more about God and about the cool kias around me.

So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for the camp NOW. Get that consent form out, show it to your parents and get their signature, then hand them to your GFs this Sunday. If you don't have can ask your GFs!

AND publicise this camp to your cool and happening friends too! It'll be worth it. Never leave your friend behind ...;)

YES. YES YES YES, it is finally up!!!

After about 5 hours of agonising video-editing, 1 hour of waiting for the file to render (ie, the file that contained the video being edited to become a proper video file) and 4 hours of waiting for YouTube to upload the video, it's HEEEERRRRREEEEE

Because I filmed at night, the lighting was really lousy, so I got the video-editing programme to do Auto-Contrast on the video clip. Which is why some bits are brighter than the rest. ANYWAY, I apologise for the lousy (pixelated) quality of the clip. Life's like that.

REMEMBER TO TURN ON THE SOUND WHEN YOU PLAY THE CLIP :)
It's quite funny to hear what people say when they play Frisbee. ;D

I wanted to post this yesterday, but, as you might've observed from the amount of time spent on this video, it can only be posted today. I'll try to have the Tchoukball clips up today too, but no promises.
But, if you check back tomorrow, the Tchoukball clips should be there yeah!! :D

CompassionArt is a group of Christian artists (Martin Smith and Stu G from Delirious?, Matt Redman, Paul Baloche, Chris Tomlin, Darlene Zschech, Israel Houghton, Steven Curtis Chapman, Tim Hughes etc. etc.) who came together to write songs for charity. They stayed in a Scotland house for a week and churned out songs, very very good songs. So they made a CD and it's been in stores for about a year.

One of my favourite songs off the album is 'Highly Favoured', written by Matt Redman, Steven C C, and Michael W Smith. This very first demo version of the song is the best part of the DVD which comes with the CD. It's only a video and yet you can strongly feel the electricity and wonder filling the room at that time. The album version isn't as powerful, but it's still good.

Doulos

To all of you who were not at the Doulos, namely all of you, here's what you missed.

The view from the top was amazing. Um no, that's not the Doulos on the right silly, it's Vivo City! The antenna you see on the bottom right is the Doulos. So we jumped off Vivo City and onto the oldest passenger liner in the world.

The Doulos holds the largest floating book-fair in the world. And by that they really do have books for everyone. And i mean everyone. Take a look at the selection!

Faith Factor Fellowship Outing

Those of you who didn't come really should have! The older kias had an awesome Pastamania lunch followed by an Air Hockey tournament, shooting match and dance off between Marianne and Amanda (I've been banned from uploading this video though). And then we went to do colouring and mugging at the airport.

But the most eventful/hilarious/memorable moment was when our boys played arcade basketball against the real pro.

After looking through some of the youths' response slips from Sunday's session, I was just reflecting.. you know, how does someone actually grow in their faith or how does someone's relationship with Christ become the central feature in their life? Because when I think about it, there was no formula or steps that I followed that made me grow or made God so important to me.. so how am I supposed to guide these girls?

It's like, from what I remember, and from what others have been through, a relationship with God has to just happen to you. You can't make it happen. Maybe you meet a person along the way who encourages you to get closer to God somehow, then you read a book that gives you a different perspective, then you hear a message a few months later, and hear a song, see a movie, then you have some more experiences.. and that's how you grow right? There aren't any standard steps or methods to take, it's different for everyone.

I've just realised that a lot of the frustration of the youths is due to following what their leaders tell them will bring them closer to God, but then they keep failing and they think they're doing something wrong and they try again but nothing lasting happens.. and then they might finally give up. We're telling them to do things, follow certain steps like read the Bible and pray, and the relationship will magically work out. And this is not true. Although I do believe in the extreme importance of having knowledge of the Bible, a regular quiet time and prayer and such, if these don't relate to everyday experience.. if you don't feel the reality of hoping in God alone when all others have let you down, if you don't wonder at the intricacies of creation, if you don't face the full extent of your ugliness and filthiness and then get hit by the full blast of being loved by God in spite of it.. then all these "spiritual disciplines" are just a prescribed set of instructions that don't work.

And so the conclusion of the matter is.. people need other people to walk along with them, through experiences, to show how eternal truths or knowledge can be made real in life. I'm not going to do additional Bible study with my girls unless they really really want it badly. But I'm going to start calling them more often.

Fishing once again with LKY on a Monday morning.

This time i invited Sarah Smith and Amanda, who invited Jeffery, who invited Dawn, who invited Andrew, who invited Huiqi.

That was interesting. Suddenly half of FF was there.

Other than the traumatic experience of casting my line in the wrong direction and tangling up with not one but several fishermen's lines, the day was fun and filled with many small catches.

And looking back, i thank God, for every single prayer i made for our outing yesterday came to fulfillment.

Not that we even deserved it.

hello friends.

on thursday we left singapore for malaysia after a briefing and prayer in the conference room. andrew wah shared with us bout the attitude we have when serving. we should be faithful and willing. even if we meet setbacks and obstacles, we must have faith in god and keep on going. the results dont matter. we try our best to do god's will and not make excuses. and we have to commit everything to god

after a few hours we arrived in seri alam. we travelled in a convey of 5 cars. the people from the chinese ministry travelled in the bus. we arrived at the gospel centre. it had to be called a gospel center as they are not allowed to use "church". cus there are complicated things that i dont know about. we are not allowed to evangelise to the malays. so we look out for the chinese.

the gospel centre was a house. the houses there were cheap and big enough. chris took one room. the samuel (not samuel soon, another samuel from chinese service) and willis and andrew and lisen and justin and yaoqi took one room and me and marilyn and rebecca and andrea and annabelle and dawn and desiree and amanda and kimberly and baijia and huiqi took one room.

i was in the large room. there were three big mattresses and enough pillows for everyone. the guys had a small bed and a small mattress. they played taiti everyday night and the winner got to sleep on the bed. chris got a really hard mattress on a bed. its as good as sleeping on the floor, just that now theres a chance she might roll off.

after putting our bags and stuff down, we set off to the lanes in jalan rimbun in groups or 4 or 5 or 6. i was in a group with desiree and samuel and willis and another adult from the chinese side. we went to the fifth lane. i had to look out for the arabic words or malay clothes in the houses so as not to disturb the malays. haha. after that we gathered back at the house and then after another briefing we crossed the road and walkted to another jalan. but i forgot what jalan. so amnyway we walked and walked and braved the heat and the fierce faces. hahaha. of course it was really xing ku for everyone, we continued going and going, publicising for a party which we would organise on saturday. we had faith that god has seen our effort and hopefully some kids would go for the party. after that we went for dinner and showered then came down for a training session by yaoqi.

we learnt was that it is important to know what we believe because only with a true understanding of the true gospel then we will have true faith. false gospel = false faith and false faith doesnt really stand for a very long time. we have misconceptions about god, jesus, sin and our response. some people think that god is a puppet of our faith. like we ask him to do things for us. and we think that he is a forgiving old man. actually, god hates sinners and sin. he judges us. he determines our time and place and gives and sustains our life.

then the misconceptions of sin is that it is a personal inadequacy. eg. i sin when i cheat cus i'm not honest. but actually its i sin when i cheat cus i'm not honest but god is honest thus i'm sinning cus god is not sinful. you know. its like a dirty and smelly person going to a clean person. sin can be an offense to man or an offense to god.
jesus is not a super psychiatrist or a best pal. he is more than that. he is a prophet, a king a priest and a substitute for our sins. :D
our responses
we shouldnt be christians cus we are "born into it". we shouldnt be christians cus it is a ticket to heaven. we shouldnt be christians cus of our friends. but we should have obedience to death, and we should repent.

on friday, we woke up and had breakfast. we had milo and milo and milo and bread and milo and peanutbutter and butter and kaya. then we had our second training thingy. we learnt about nehemiah and the rebuilding of the city walls. when nehemiah faced an obstacle, the first thing he did was pray. he didnt like try to do what he can then when he saw that he couldnt savehimself then pray, but prayed before doing anything. yeah. then there was something about being on guard all the time. i'm edit this when i find someone's worksheet.

i remember something about the workers who were rebuilding the walls carrying their work materials in one hand and their weapon in another. so for us it's like in order to deal with opposition or difficulties in christian life, must keep our "sword" with us at all times (always be reading and meditating on God's Word), even when we're busy with ministry or work. and.. having a group of people that can warn and encourage and spur us on, like the jews who warned the builders that there was an attack on them coming.

then after lunch we went out to tesco where we did street e in chinese. many of us couldnt find much epopel to talk to. and i only shared to one person. like me and desiree tried to share to these 2 girls. then halfway through i asked willis for help so he took over. so 2 tiumes half = 1. so i shared to 1 person. its not easy sharing in chinese. so i ate fries. after that we met each other at the supermarket and had some fun there. becky ran into a guy then he dropped his stuff and beckyt continued running and running and running. bad girl.. we tried to scare justin. justin had an eeyore for desiree. we tried to run behind him. but then he turned so we had to run in a circle and turn with him. hahahahahahahahhaha so funny. then we bought gum and cotton candy.

then we went back to the center then we went to a never visited before area. hahahahahaha this time becky joined my group. wahahahahahhahahaha so fun. ahhahahaha we rang the doorbell of a muslim house by accident. then me and becky ran away. so desiree stuck out her head and said "sala" HAHAHAA. then becky started laughing very very very loudly. hhahahahhahaha. that made it sound like a prank. bleagh. we didnt really achieve much. except we found a christian home and got encouraged. ahahhaa. that was the end of our publicity / door to door.

hahaha lisen said that when he did door to door with andrew, andrew was going to ring the doorbell of a muslim house. then lisen told him that it was a muslim house. but then andrew went to ring the door bell. and then a malay came out. then andrew asked "WHAT ROAD IS THIS?" HAHAHAHAHAHA.
oh and there were many big loud barking dogs. scary. ahhaha then yoaiq's group was walking past the gate. so everyone walked past and the dog was quiet. then yaoqi walked past and the dog started barking loudly and charging at the gate. hahahaha. quite funny.

then we went back to the house and bathed and ate something. no no we went to someplace and ate something. then someone took a photo of the girl's table (my table) then andrea got really angry and stuff but we didnt do anything.

then we went back and then we bathed and then we prepared for the carnival the next day. the marilyn rebecca andrea annabelle and willis did the puppet show ans they had alot of fun.... yeah. yaoqi acted as the father in the parable of the lost son. lisen was the lost son. i was the narrator. andrew was the bad friend. kim was the pig/cow. baijia and amanda were pigs too. samuel was the farmer cum servant. justin was the funny brother. hahahaha.

ok so next day was the carnival. rachel and jeffrey came to join us. we had alot of fun with the kids. wahahha. there were games and food prepared by uncle davi d. and more games and fun. we had lots of fun with the kids. too bad they forgot us the next day. boohoo. 3 new kids came i think. like three kids that came through our publicity. YAY. the kids were really happy and stuff. i painted justin's face and he painted mine. to be honest, both faces were nice. :D i know we all agree. hahahahahah. ok so after the kids left with their tattoos and balloons and face paint and everything, the guys plus chris and andrea had some fun stepping on balloons. hahah you know like you have the rubberband and the balloon on your foot and then you try to step on the balloon. ahahhaa. yeah that game. then we had some free time that was spent in attempts to do ballloon sculpting and some of us emo-ed and indulged in chicken porridge and some century egg thingy. and "spamwich"s. haha. this was when andrew fell asleep while doing something. hahahah. quite funny. after that we had a debrief.

we sat in a circle and we shared about some stuff. i guess everyone learnt something from this trip. huiqi and dawn thinks that we young ones have potential. and then someone said that the youths going for missiontrips were ggetting younger and younger. like they excepted jc1 and jc2 people to go but non went. >: ( but then the lower sec and andrea signed up. and that made chris happy. >: ) and then desiree thinks i'm mature. and huiqi can see that annabelle is growing. wahahhaah we have potential. muahahahahahaha.

after the debrief we went out for SUPPERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! hahaha it was so fun. kim marilyn rebecca annabelle andrea rachel and i went in pastor kuoyung's car. hahahahah. we got to use the walkie talkie. we spent alot of time getting lost. which was great. hahaha. then we ate and ate and ate and i loved the mushrooms. oh oh oh and m y slipper broke ): ok then we went back in the car and i got to sit in the boot with becky and annabelle. marilyn couldnt sit with us cus she had a stomachache. hahaha then we decided to lie on the floor of the boot and then we started freaking out cus its was dark and we could only see half the sky and we were scared of a hand that appeared and cockroaches and moth balls. but god protected us and only the car got harmed cus we stuck our feet on the window at the back for all to smell. it was great fun but i guess we screwed the car cus annabelle opened this thing and then all the mothballs fell out and then we lay on pastor kuoyung's shoes and stuff like that. SORRY CAR. wahahahah after that we went to bathe and then played and laughed and got scolded by preacher wong. preacher wong is the person who runs the place. she's a strong strong believer who really sacrificed alot for god. we should learn from her. like the kids who goes to the nchurch. she took the time to go around and gather the kids and stuff liekt aht. she took the time to know the parents and tunderstand and stuff and its something that many of us wont do. we wouldnt give our lifes up to god (at least i'm not doing it. YET.) but every thing that preacher wong does is for god and its really cool. :) ok so anyway we got scolded by her cus her neighbours had complained about noise from the gospel centre and yeah they didnt wanna get closed down and stuff.

that night we all learnt valuable lessons from lisen. he taught us that p stands for potato chips and wtf stands for water the flowers. great isnt he?

next day. woke up. we were to lead sunday school. yaoqi told us just the ngiht before. wahahah. it was great fun. andrea had been rehearsing all night and morning but it still didnt work out. so yaoqi helped her. he's really good at letting people understand stuff. even in chinese. we learnt about salt and light. or the kids learnt about salt and light. all the kids were girls. hahah. we learnt that we shoudl be salt. must be useful if not we'll be thrown away and trampled. and we hafta be light that lets people see how to live and stuff. like in darkness everyone will look at the lgiht. we must live for god and let everyone see. hahaha. yeah. then after that we went out to await LUNCH!! then the kids shared some secrets with us about who they thought was handsome.hahahaha. then we took a photo and they left. then we packed up, cleaned up. and then they told us that we would go to jusco to shop for awhile. or rather they told us we might. but we didnt int he end. we were disappointed and yeah it made things worse when we drove pass jusco on the way back. but we went to the petrol kiosk and had our miny jusco there. i love chocolettes. they are ncie. hahahahahah. then we all went homehomehomehome

we learnt many stuffs. including how growing together is so important. lets hope that we can go again soon. maybe this december. hee. you old people can go plan for this again. ok? ok set. good.

Isaiah 53: 5 says that "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;" Good Friday is good because we are saved by Jesus Christ. He became our Substitute who took our punishment for our wrongdoings.

My version of the "nonsense"!

After twenty years of shaving himself every morning, a man in a small Southern town decided he had had enough. He told his wife that he intended to let the local barber shave him each day. He put on his hat and coat and went to the barber shop which was owned by the pastor of the local Baptist Church. The barber's wife, Grace, was working, so she performed the task. Grace shaved him and sprayed him with lilac water and said, "That will be $20." The man thought the price was a bit high, but he paid the bill and went to work. The next morning the man looked in the mirror, and his face was as smooth as it had been when he left the barber shop the day before. Not bad, he thought. At least I don't need to get a shave every day. The next morning, the man's face was still smooth. Two weeks later, the man was still unable to find any trace of whiskers on his face. Some time back, my wife and I decided she'll take half-a-year off work as a teacher to homeschool our kids. That means she'll have to return the school-issued laptop. So I posted in Facebook that I'm looking to buy over a 2nd hand laptop so that she may use it in her lessons at home. And I told God this need. For a long long time, nobody offered to sell... Finally, the day came when my wife finally returned the laptop.

Then all these things that follow happened yesterday...
My wife told me in the morning, "LKY, I'll need a laptop tomorrow for a home school presentation." I panicked of course. I started planning secretly that maybe I should ask to borrow my office's laptop for her to use for a while as I source for a permanent one for her.
At 12nn, she was supposed to come to fetch me to go to a KTV at Bugis (our wedding anniversary celeb). At 11.45am, my phone rang. A brother in Christ said he was at Sim Lim and he (together with a few friends) bought a 2nd-hand laptop for me. He asked me if I could pick it up. Sim Lim is just a stone's throw from that KTV! I told him, "Give me 30min, I'll be there!"

When I was there I realised he purchased a thinkpad (which is the model my wife returned). That night, my wife happily prepared her lesson on that laptop.
God has replaced a thinkpad for a thinkpad, on the very day we need it. And He even planned the pick-up.

He just proved again that it pleases Him to meet the need of his children - in the most facinating way!

Today was the first session of Community Bible Study International (CBSI) at KPC, for the adults/main congregation. I felt very weird among all the aunties in my group, just this feeling, like, I'm still a kid actually, what am I doing here... Also started to miss the times when I was in the Youth discussion group in CBSI, all the nonsense we talked and laughed about. Those years in Youth were the best and most fun years of my life. Felt quite sad that those experiences are gone forever. So moral of the story is, ENJOY YOURSELVES WHILE YOU CAN, KIDS! Talk nonsense, play pranks, giggle in Bible studies (not too much), give nicknames to each other.. but through it all learn and grow in your faith with a core group of church kia friends who will always be there through the years to laugh and cry and play and pray and study God's Word with you.

why so little people? cus alot of people PANGSEH.

ok. we met at east coast macs at 6 and ate. everyone was late. then went to rent bikes and went cycling! (: desiree and andrea went on the double bike. me glenn and aaron on single bikes! songyang brought his own single bike. matthew didnt know how cycle, so he went serenading at the beach.

cycled from the bike rental to bedok jetty. it was fun. desiree and andrea were rather slow. hahahahahahaha. at bedok jetty, songyang and glenn took over the double bike cus desiree and andrea couldnt keep up. HAHAHAHA! no la. hahaha. its cus glenn couldnt steer. fyi he injured his hand while skiing in china. the original plan was that yaoqi and glenn would take the double bike. yaoqi in front steering and glenn behind cycling. but yaoqi didnt come cus "traveling isnt convenient for him". so anyway, after prayers for safety for songyang and glenn, we set off toward sparkC! YAYYYYYYY. well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the whole journey, glenn and sonyang were LAUGHING MANIACALLY while trying to balance. crazy people. hahahahaa.

reached sparkc then i tried the double bike with songyang. screamed 40% the time on the bike.

songyang tried to scare me. succeeded 40%. HAHAHAHHA. by then desiree's ~~bottom~~ tailbone was rather painful. hahahahaha.

we cycled back, andrea's bike's chain fell out. fixed it, and went back to return our bikes. then went to find matthew. then, YAOQI CAME! he DROVE there! went to macs and ate ICE CREAM! (: ice cream makes people happy! hahahaha.

after that, we went to walk walk along the beach, where me andrea and desiree tried to spoil people's ambience. ahahhahaa. fun stuff. then went back, the guys hid our shoes. i had fun finding my slippers. hahahhahahaa.

then........... THE BEST PART OF THE DAY........................ THE MOST EXCITING/SCARY/FUNNY/AWESOME CAR RIDE EVER.

hahahahhaa. yaoqi sent me glenn desiree and aaron HOME! well what happened was, we exited from the carpark at east coast, and headed to pasir ris. the model-way to go to pasir ris is going to ecp then going to pasirris. but.... our uncle went to PIE then exited at simei and went back to ecp and to pasir ris. HAHAHAHA. there was once where he stopped like......
like that. HAHAHAHA. super funny. and then there was once when we were supposed to exit at pasirris, the exit was at the leftest lane but we were in the rightet lane and then everyone in the car was like "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" or "LEEEEEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!" Yaoqi said he almost had an emotional breakdown. HAHAHA.
by god's grace we managed to turn into pasir ris. THANK YOU GOD.
we all arrived home safely. YAY.

hello world.
i am here to post about today!
today we had street e!
i shall try to list out the names of the people who went.......
marilyn rebecca kim amanda duane desiree lydia tina marianne melvin ron rachall andrea emerlyn dawn huiqi ben maha jeffrey zhenxiang angeline and i went street-e-ing! hahahah
after meeting at parkway macs at 4:15, we had a short briefing and prayer time, and off we went to spread the gospel to the strangers around us.
we stopped people who were our age or below. i'm sure most of us were really scared of the people since they were strangers. i was paired with desiree. (: we stopped quite a few people and got different responses. we got rejected sometimes and got some interested people.
so after that we met up and walked back to kpc for PIZZA.
while waiting for the pizzas, we had our de-briefing session!
this was indeed truly very meaningful, even though it was filled with giggles and stuff.
emerlyn was laughing alot cus andrea told her that andrew's socks were very high.
yeah but it was more meaningful than high socks.
basically what we discussed about was that....
1. even if we are not good at sharing, its ok. its something like a not very good singer leading worship. god wont be like "wah this person sings so well. i like!" cus its not tha talent that please god but that we are serving god. or something like that
2. we need not be scared about sharing. because we are telling the truth. the gospel that we are sharing is true and we should be ashames of it or scared to share it. furthermore, it is not us who is working when we share the gospel. it is the holy spirit, in other words, god. thus we need not be scared.
3. if we get rejected, its fine, cus the holy spirit will work on the guy who rejected us, and at least we tried!
basically thats generally what i learnt.
i'm sure theres more. tag on the tagboard about what you've learnt, what you think about street-e, and your thoughts. hahahaha

STREETE IS SUPER FUN. AND SCARY ALSO.
I ALSO LEARNT THAT THE SCARY PEOPLE LOOK UNSCARY AND THE UNSCARY PEOPLE LOOK SCARY!
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.
I THINK WE SHOULD DO THIS MORE.
THE PIZZA WAS NICE
